Hello NFTY-NE! We hope you have had a fun and relaxing summer. We are also beyond excited to start our year together with Summer Institute. Our weekend event will be filled with engaging programs, pleasant services, and many of our Summer Institute traditions! Check out our schedule below!

Friday, August 20
1) Overall Program #1 – Connecting Through Competition 5:00 -6:00 pm
Start off Institute with an engaging and entertaining game! And learn a little bit about competition and cooperation with your old and new friends.
2) Shabbat Evening Services 8:00 – 9:00 pm
Come join us for Shabbat! Between the prayers we will be checking in with old friends and meeting new ones.
3) Brotherhood & Sisterhood #1 10:00 – 11:30 pm
Brotherhood and Sisterhood time, respectively Checkin/Checkout and Nashim, are our community times to connect on a more personal level. NFTY-NE members chose which community they would like to be a part of, and both communities are accepting and affirming. This time is about building a strong community and decompressing at the end of the day!
Saturday, August 21
4) Shabbat Morning Services 10:00 – 11:00 am
Exploring themes of light and gratitude through song and self-reflection. There will also be time to chat with fellow NFTY-NE members in break out rooms about the themes of the service!
5) New Member Brunch 11:10 – 11:30 am
Are you new to NFTY-NE? We all were at some point. Join us for our New Member Brunch to meet some friendly NFTY-NE members, learn about our region, and ask questions if you have any!
6) Overall Program #2 – Some Things Never Change… But They Do 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
Everything in life is constantly changing. But how often do we actually look back and reflect on how everything around us and in our lives has changed? Come join us to talk about change!
7) EC Program #1 – The Sound of Jewsic 2:00 – 3:00 pm
What does music mean to you? We’re here to explore that with resonant conversations, a kahoot, and a playlist we’ll create together!
8) Overall Program #3 – Social Action 3:30 – 4:45 pm
What lessons can we take away from the heightened inequities we’ve seen and how we’ve dealt with them this past year? How can these ideas apply to a post-pandemic world? Join us to explore this and more!
9) Havdalah 7:00 – 7:50 pm
You know that warm and fuzzy feeling when you’re singing with the people you love? Havdalah. A fun and meaningful way to end a full Shabbat of activities.
10) The NFTY-NE Talent Show 8:00 – 9:30 pm
A fun way for the region to share their amazing talents! Throughout the talent show seniors will be rewarded paper plate awards.
11) Brotherhood & Sisterhood #2 10:00 – 11:30 pm
At Institutes there are multiple nights of Brotherhood and Sisterhood! This is the second night, and community building from the first will continue over to the second!
Sunday, August 22
12) Prayer & Program
- Outdoor Prayer 10:00 – 11:00 am
Good morning NFTY-NE! Get outside and get ready to connect yourself, your Judaism, and nature together all in one service! We will be praying together and have a small guided meditation as well.
- Overall Program #4 – Climbing the Wall 11:15 am – 12:15 pm
How can all of us connect with our Judaism and shared holy cities? What does the Western Wall mean to you? Discuss the concepts that draw you to Judaism. Additionally, learn about and discuss hot button issues relating to who can pray where and why.
13) A2AH2H & Friendship Circle
- EC Program #2 – Art 2 Art; Heart 2 Heart 1:15 – 2:00 pm
Art. Music. Meaningful connections. Get to know the friendly faces of NFTY-NE through creating art, listening to music suggested by YOU, and straight up vibing.
- Friendship Circle 2:15 – 2:40 pm
Throughout the weekend we will have the opportunity to write anonymous compliments about each other. On our final call of the weekend, Friendship Circle, these compliments will be read out loud and our song leaders will lead us in classic NFTY-NE songs. Friendship circle is the perfect way to wrap up the weekend!
